A blepharoplasty or eyelid correction is a procedure in which excess skin is removed from the eyelids.

This can cause sagging of the eyebrows and upper eyelids. Besides being a cosmetic concern, severely sagging skin around the eyes can impair the sides of our visual field, which can lead to headaches from lifting the eyebrows up using the frontal forehead muscles.

This exemplifies how esthetic and functional facial problems often coincide, and emphasizes the importance of having a facial plastic surgeon who is trained in and has an eye for both the esthetic and functional aspects of facial problems.
